AbouT US

More than a martial art. more than a gym. We are a family, a community built on values of respect, discipline, brotherhood and honour who embrace the true spirit and traditional ethos of Muay Thai and the martial arts.

Wether you are stepping into the gym for the first time, looking to improve your fitness, develop your skills or challenge yourself as a fighter, you are welcome here.

Muay Thai isn't just about learning how to fight in the ring, it is about building confidence, developing discipline and becoming stronger in both body and mind.

Here at Samakee, we train together, grow together and support one another through challenges, celebrate each others progress and take pride in creating an environment where everyone is encouraged to reach their potential.

HELPFUL INFORMATION

INSTRUCTOR BIO

Kru Clive Founder and head coach at Samakee Muay Thai.

My journey started decades ago with Kickboxing where I achieved a 2nd Dan Black belt before findind and falling in love with Muay Thai. It was here I trained under Master Ponchai, Thai Dimound Camp, Kingston Upon Thames and later Master Boon, Jackapong Camp, Epsom, gaining experience and developing my Muay Thai style and technique.

As a qualified instructor I Orinally stepped into the world of teaching combative arts back in 1996 and set up a full time centre in the south of London 2001.

Today as a fully qualified Muay Thai coach I've returned to my roots, Surbiton. Teaching out of the Surrey Boxing and Fitness Centre I enjoy passing on my knowledge to others, seeing them grow and building the Muay Thai community.

Do I need martial arts or boxing experience to practice Muay Thai.

No you don't need any privous experience just turn up in some comforteble training bottoms and top and jump straight in. Our classes are friendly and very welcoming with mixed level of fighters.

Will I be expected to compete in competitions and fight in the ring.

Muay Thai is a combat sport, but no one is pressured or expected to enter competitions. Training and sparrings is done in a controled and supervised environment with many fighters never competing but still enjoying being able to support those who do.

What age do you need to be to train with Samakee Muay Thai.

Our focus is on 11 years and up, our classes are mixed male and female with varied level of ability. Here we focus on making the effort and putting in the work.

Do you organise any other events throughout the year.

Yes, apart from interclubs and competing in competitions we meet for social events and dinners, as well as visits to other camps and the Thai Buddhist temple in Wimbledon. We also plan visits to train out in Thai Land once per year.
